White House Responds to Trump’s “Piggy” Remark to Reporter
The White House has defended a controversial interaction between President Donald Trump and a reporter aboard Air Force One. During a flight last week, Trump reacted with frustration to questions regarding Jeffrey Epstein, leading him to point at the journalist and say, “Quiet, piggy!” The incident drew widespread attention after a video was released by the White House, sparking significant backlash.
In response to the uproar, a White House official spoke to MS NOW and characterized the reporter’s conduct as “inappropriate and unprofessional.” The official further suggested that journalists need to develop a thicker skin when faced with criticism. “If you’re going to give it, you have to be able to take,” the official stated, emphasizing the give-and-take nature of press interactions.
Trump’s comments come in the wake of renewed scrutiny surrounding Epstein, following the release of emails that mention the president. On November 18, 2025, the situation escalated when Trump confronted an ABC reporter for questioning Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. During this exchange, Trump criticized the reporter’s demeanor, stating, “The way you ask the question, with the anger and the meanness, is terrible. You go back and learn how to be a reporter.”
This incident is not isolated; Trump has previously expressed dissatisfaction with the media’s coverage of his administration. Following the questioning about the Epstein files, he even suggested that ABC’s broadcast license should be revoked, labeling their reporting as “fake” and “wrong.”
The ongoing tension highlights the complex relationship between the Trump administration and the press, particularly in light of sensitive issues such as Epstein’s past associations. As the White House navigates these challenges, the president’s interactions with journalists continue to attract attention and provoke debate about the state of press freedom and accountability.
As discussions around the Epstein files and their implications persist, the White House’s defense of Trump’s remark underscores the contentious environment surrounding this issue. The dynamic between the media and the administration remains a focal point as both sides grapple with the implications of their exchanges.
