UNLV Piano Sale to Fund Student Scholarships, January 8-10
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) College of Fine Arts is set to host a piano sale from January 8 to 10, 2026. This unique event, organized in partnership with Southern Nevada Music, allows the public to purchase professionally maintained, university-owned pianos while simultaneously supporting student scholarships in music.
A diverse selection of instruments will be available, including grand, baby grand, upright, player, and digital pianos from renowned brands such as Steinway & Sons, Boston, Essex, Yamaha, Kawai, and Roland. Each piano has been carefully maintained for use in rehearsals, performances, and practice studios at UNLV.
Sale Details and Accessibility Options
The piano sale will kick off with a private, appointment-only event on January 8 and January 9, providing early access and exclusive pricing. Interested buyers can schedule appointments by calling 702-938-4646. The public sale will follow on January 10, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and no appointments will be required for this portion of the event. All activities will take place at the UNLV College of Fine Arts Beam Music Center, located at 4505 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89154.
To enhance affordability, the event will offer no-interest financing options for 18 months, along with delivery services for purchased instruments. Importantly, a portion of the proceeds will directly benefit UNLV music scholarships, assisting students pursuing degrees in music performance, education, and related fields.
Significance of the Sale
This piano sale follows a significant achievement for UNLV, which has recently been designated an All-Steinway Institution. This prestigious recognition is shared by over 200 leading music schools worldwide, all committed to providing students with high-quality Steinway-designed instruments. The designation was made possible through a generous donation from the KJS Family Foundation, which funded the acquisition of new Steinway pianos for the music department. With the department now fully equipped with new instruments, select university-maintained pianos are being offered for public purchase as part of this upcoming sale.
Research conducted by the national All-Steinway program indicates that institutions utilizing Steinway instruments see enhanced performance quality, increased competitive readiness, and improved student recruitment. This reinforces UNLV’s commitment to fostering artistic excellence and supporting student success.
Southern Nevada Music, established in 1958, serves as the exclusive dealer for Steinway & Sons pianos in the region. Owned by the Wunderlich family since 1981, the company not only sells Steinway instruments but also represents Steinway-designed Boston and Essex pianos, along with Roland digital pianos and previously owned options. In addition to its sales operations, Southern Nevada Music hosts a respected music school and maintains a performance hall for public recitals. The organization has a long-standing dedication to supporting the local arts community throughout Southern Nevada.
