UPDATE: Boxing champion Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford has been ticketed for allegedly running a red light while heading to the state wrestling championships in Omaha, Nebraska. The incident occurred on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:27 PM, as Crawford was driving his 2026 Mercedes-Benz SUV to the CHI Health Center.

Omaha police initiated the stop after observing Crawford’s vehicle traveling at an estimated speed of over 50 mph through a solid red light at 14th and Capitol. The officer’s report details that Crawford ran through two traffic signals without braking, ultimately being stopped at a third red light before the officer intervened. In the officer’s words, the vehicle “went through without braking” and then “passed multiple other vehicles” before being pulled over.

Crawford, who is set to face a trial in April for a previous careless driving incident, questioned which red light he had violated when stopped. He explained to officers that he was on his way to watch his son wrestle, as the NSAA’s parade of champions commenced at 3 PM that day.

This recent ticket adds to Crawford’s already troubled driving history. Last September, he was involved in a highly publicized traffic stop near 12th and Capitol, following a parade in his honor. That incident escalated when police, upon discovering a firearm in the vehicle, ordered everyone out at gunpoint, leading to a federal lawsuit against the City of Omaha from his passengers for alleged excessive force and discrimination. Notably, Crawford did not join the lawsuit.

As the boxing world watches closely, this latest incident could have significant implications for Crawford’s upcoming trial and public image. The situation is developing, and more details are expected to emerge as the trial date approaches.

Stay tuned for further updates on Terence Crawford’s legal battles and their impact on his career.
