URGENT UPDATE: Peacock has confirmed that the much-anticipated reboot of Tom Hanks’ cult classic comedy, The ‘Burbs, will premiere on February 8, 2026. This news comes just days after the release of the series trailer, generating buzz among fans of the original movie.

The reboot, directed by Joe Dante, is set in present-day suburbia and follows a young couple whose lives are upended when new neighbors move in, bringing with them “old secrets and new deadly threats” that disrupt their once-peaceful neighborhood. The series stars Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall, who will portray characters distinct from those played by Hanks and Carrie Fisher in the 1989 film.

In an official statement, Peacock revealed that the supporting cast includes notable names such as Paula Pell, Kapil Talwalkar, and Julia Duffy. The series is created by Celeste Hughey, with executive producers including industry heavyweights Brian Grazer, Seth MacFarlane, and Dana Olsen, the latter of whom also wrote the original movie.

The original The ‘Burbs, released on February 17, 1989, was made on a budget of $18 million and grossed over $49.1 million worldwide. It quickly gained a loyal following, cementing its status as a classic.

The creation of this reboot was greenlit by Peacock in September 2024, and with its contemporary twist, it aims to attract both fans of the original and a new generation of viewers.

Stay tuned for further updates as the release date nears, and prepare for a blend of nostalgia and new thrills when The ‘Burbs hits your screens in just a few months!
