Bellevue Teen Wins Contest to Design Police Cruiser Wrap

BREAKING: A remarkable achievement from a local teen is set to hit the streets of Bellevue, Nebraska. 14-year-old Harper Hardin, a student at Mission Middle School, has just won a contest to design a wrap for a police cruiser dedicated to the school resource officer.

Hardin expressed her disbelief upon learning she was the winner, stating, “I was kind of just, like, in shock, like, total shock that I had won.” Her eye-catching design features striking white camouflage with purple accents, embodying the spirit of the Bellevue community.

“This is like a very large military community,” Hardin explained. “I thought white camo always looks sleek. So I chose that partially because of the military community, partially because it looks cool.” The design also incorporates the school colors, with purple prominently displayed on the hood and roof of the vehicle.

The cruiser, which serves all three middle schools in the district, is driven by School Resource Officer Isaias Rosario. Rosario initiated the contest to foster a deeper connection with students. He stated, “What better way to connect with someone than, hey, like, you can potentially have your car out there, you know?”

Hardin submitted her design in November and eagerly followed up with Officer Rosario about the selection process. “I kept asking Officer Rosario, hey, when are you guys gonna pick the cruiser? Like, every time I saw him in the office. And he’s like, soon, soon,” she shared.

Seeing the final design has left Rosario delighted, affirming his choice. “It brings joy to my eyes, I guess,” he said. The Bellevue Police Department noted that the inspiration for the contest arose from custom designs previously created for high school resource officers in the district.

In an emotional moment, Hardin expressed gratitude for her art teacher, who encouraged her to participate in the contest. This win not only highlights Hardin’s talent but also strengthens community ties through the collaboration with local law enforcement.
