Bally’s Advances Ambitious Las Vegas Expansion Near A’s Stadium
Bally’s Corporation is making significant strides in its plans for a major entertainment district surrounding the future home of the Oakland Athletics on the Las Vegas Strip. Local officials have taken the first formal step towards approving Bally’s land-use plans, recommending that permits for the initial phase of the project be granted.
Project Details and Goals
The proposal, which is set for final consideration by the Clark County Commission, marks a notable milestone in the development linked to the estimated $2 billion ballpark. Bally’s aims to create a multi-phase facility covering several million square feet, with an investment of around $1.19 billion. The initial phase will focus on foundational and structural elements necessary for the ballpark and the adjacent resort.
Recent filings indicate that the development will include a hotel tower, casino, retail promenades, entertainment venues, dining areas, and a theater. A three-level plaza will feature a variety of amenities, designed to create a pedestrian hub at the stadium entrance. This effort aims to draw visitors year-round, rather than just on game days.
The large resort tower is expected to offer approximately 1,800 guest rooms, providing seamless access to both the casino resort and the ballpark. Bally’s has stated that the complex will be elevated above street level, with a central hub accessible through escalators, elevators, and existing pedestrian bridges connecting to the Excalibur and MGM Grand.
Construction Progress and Future Phases
Construction of the stadium has already commenced, with crews breaking ground on the nine-acre ballpark site last summer. The project has absorbed more than $300 million so far, and steel structures are beginning to rise as the seating bowl takes shape. The stadium is designed to accommodate approximately 33,000 fans and will share infrastructure with the surrounding resort district.
The completion of the ballpark is scheduled for 2028, coinciding with the launch of Phase 1 of the casino resort. This initial phase will include essential utilities, parking structures, and retail and dining spaces surrounding the stadium. Subsequent phases are planned to expand the hotel towers and available amenities.
For Bally’s, this development represents one of the most ambitious projects in its history. The new venue also signifies a pivotal moment in Las Vegas’ evolution into a premier sports hub, where professional sports teams, entertainment venues, and casino resorts increasingly converge. High-profile events, such as the F1 Grand Prix, highlight the potential for mutual benefits among all stakeholders involved in this transformation.
