88-Year-Old Salvatore Maimone Passes Away in Schenectady

BREAKING NEWS: Salvatore Maimone, an esteemed member of the Schenectady community, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on December 23, 2025 at Capstone Nursing Home. This loss is felt deeply by his family and friends as they mourn the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, and friend.

Born in Meri, Messina, Sicily on March 26, 1937, Salvatore was the son of the late Giuseppe and Concetta Campo Maimone. His journey led him to the United States in 1971, where he settled in Schenectady after marrying his wife, Antonina, in 1957. Together, they built a family that now includes two sons, Giuseppe and Orazio, and multiple grandchildren.

Salvatore was well-known for his work as a mason with Local 190 in Albany and was a proud member of the Sons of Italy on Hamburg Street. His contributions to the community and his dedication to his craft have left a lasting impact.

In addition to his wife, who predeceased him in 2006, Salvatore is remembered by his loving family, including grandchildren Nicolina, Angelo, Kamden, Ava, Sal, Anthony, and Roberto, as well as his sister Anna from Italy. His legacy will live on through his great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

A calling hour is scheduled for Monday, December 29, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. Following the calling hour, a funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. Salvatore will be laid to rest at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
