Saoirse Noonan Prepares for Sky Sports Cup Semi-Final Clash
Celtic FC Women are gearing up for an exciting semi-final in the Sky Sports Cup, set to face off against Rangers on February 1, 2026. The team has started the year strongly, winning their first two matches under new head coach Grant Scott. With confidence high, the players are eager to continue their impressive form as they chase three trophies this season.
On Tuesday, striker Saoirse Noonan spoke at Hampden Park about the significance of the upcoming showdown. She expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to compete for silverware early in the year. “It’s massive to still be chasing on all fronts in terms of trophies. It gives you that bit more excitement, and you really want to be in that final,” Noonan said.
Celtic’s recent success includes a six-match winning streak, which Noonan believes has set a positive tone for the team. “We’ve had a good run of games against some big teams in big matches. We just need to keep that momentum going,” she noted. The players are determined to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of success, aiming to bring home trophies for their supporters.
Before the semi-final, Celtic will face Montrose on January 25, 2026, in their first home match of the year at New Douglas Park. This game will also mark Scott’s debut on the touchline in front of the home crowd. “Right now, we are coming into that stage where every game is nearly a cup final and as important as the next,” Noonan emphasized.
The squad is focused on maintaining their momentum and ensuring they perform at their best in every match. “There have been small changes made by Grant, but nothing drastic. It’s the same dressing room, the same bunch of girls, and the same goals,” Noonan stated.
Celtic’s commitment to winning is matched by their desire to engage with fans. “We’ve heard the fans; I think they’ve never been louder this year,” Noonan remarked, highlighting the energy surrounding the team. With their eyes set on the semi-final, the players are keen to deliver a strong performance against Montrose to build further confidence heading into the crucial encounter with Rangers.
The fixtures ahead are pivotal not just for titles but also for the development of the team under Scott’s leadership. As they prepare for a busy schedule filled with high-stakes matches, the commitment to excellence remains unwavering.
Celtic Women will take on Montrose Women on January 25, 2026, at 13:10, followed by the Sky Sports Cup semi-final against Rangers Women on February 1, 2026, at 13:40.
