Israeli forces have killed two Palestinians, including a 16-year-old boy, during recent confrontations in the occupied West Bank. According to the Palestinian health ministry, the incidents occurred in the towns of Qabatiya and Silah al-Harithiya on March 2, 2024. These fatalities contribute to a troubling trend, with at least 1,102 Palestinians reported killed in the region since October 2023.

In Qabatiya, located southwest of Jenin, the health ministry confirmed that the boy was shot by Israeli gunfire. Eyewitnesses reported that he was walking when he came under heavy fire from Israeli soldiers. The ministry also stated that Israeli forces are withholding the victim’s body, which has raised concerns among the local population. A video circulating on social media captured the moment of the shooting, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Another fatality occurred in Silah al-Harithiya, also near Jenin, where a 22-year-old Palestinian was killed. Witnesses indicated that Israeli forces conducted a raid in the area, deploying extensively throughout the town.

In addition to these deaths, two other Palestinians sustained injuries from Israeli gunfire near the Nur Shams refugee camp, located east of Tulkarem, and in the town of Al-Ram, north of Jerusalem. The ongoing violence has resulted in nearly 11,000 Palestinians wounded and approximately 21,000 detained since the escalation began.

The conflict has drawn international attention, particularly following a landmark opinion by the International Court of Justice in July 2023, which declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal. The court called for the evacuation of all settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, emphasizing the need for adherence to international law.

As violence continues to escalate in the region, the humanitarian impact remains significant, raising concerns about the future stability of the area and the lives of those affected. The situation underscores the urgent need for renewed dialogue and efforts toward peace amidst ongoing tensions.
