Casey Cares Foundation Honors Julia Arfaa at Sea of Hope Gala
The Casey Cares Foundation celebrated its 26th Annual Sea of Hope Gala on October 14, 2023, at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. The event aims to benefit the foundation’s ongoing programs that support critically ill children and their families. This year, the foundation honored Julia Arfaa, managing partner of Arfaa Law Group, with the prestigious Champion of Children Award for her significant contributions to the foundation and the families it serves.
The gala featured a variety of attendees from different sectors, including healthcare, education, and business. Notable guests included Kristin Riekert, PhD, from Johns Hopkins University, and Dorie Capodanno, a registered nurse at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. They joined other community members to support the cause and enjoy an evening filled with camaraderie and inspiration.
During the event, Casey Baynes, founder and executive director of Casey Cares, emphasized the importance of uplifting families facing challenging health situations. “Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of these children and their families,” she stated, rallying support from the gathered guests.
The gala was co-chaired by Todd Travis and Bob Weltchek, who addressed the attendees about the critical work the foundation undertakes. Their remarks highlighted the necessity for continued support and funding for programs that provide respite and enrichment to families with critically ill children.
As guests mingled and enjoyed various activities, including a live performance, the atmosphere was one of hope and solidarity. Among the attendees were Haleigh Forbes, Vice President of Marketing at American Public Education, Inc., and John Richardson, COO of The Natural Sapphire Company, who both expressed their commitment to supporting the foundation’s mission.
The event not only raised awareness but also aimed to generate funds for the foundation’s programs. Each ticket purchased contributes directly to services that assist families during difficult times, showcasing the community’s dedication to making a difference.
Throughout the evening, volunteers were recognized for their hard work and commitment. Lynette Charles and Angelette Aviles served as the emcees, guiding the program and keeping spirits high.
The Sea of Hope Gala stands as a testament to the collective effort of individuals and organizations committed to improving the lives of children with critical health challenges. With each passing year, the Casey Cares Foundation continues to thrive, driven by the generosity of its supporters and the unwavering resilience of the families it serves.
