Savannah Guthrie Shares Positive Update After Vocal Cord Surgery
Savannah Guthrie, the well-known host of the “Today” show, provided a reassuring health update following her recent vocal cord surgery. On Monday, she took to Instagram to inform her fans that she is “all good.” In a heartfelt post, Guthrie displayed a whiteboard message reading, “All good! Thanks for prayers and love,” indicating her current inability to speak. She concluded her message with a cheerful note, writing, “See you soon! 💛”
The announcement came after Guthrie revealed on December 19, 2023, that she would be stepping away from the talk show to undergo surgery early in the new year. During a broadcast, she explained that her condition involved nodules and a polyp on her vocal cords, which had caused her voice to be “very scratchy and started to crack a little bit.” Despite the situation, she reassured viewers that the procedure was “not a big, big deal” and expressed her excitement about finally addressing the long-standing issue.
Fans quickly filled the comments section of her post with messages of support, expressing their eagerness to see her return. One fan wrote, “So happy to hear all went well! Sending healing ❤️🩹 vibes,” while another added, “Miss seeing you with Craig and Sheinelle. Love you 3. Heal fast and come back.”
Understanding the Recovery Process
As part of her recovery, Guthrie will need to adhere to a vocal rest regimen. She humorously remarked that her family might enjoy the quiet during this period, saying, “Christmas coming early for my family!” Guthrie, who is 54 years old, shares two children—daughter Vale, 11, and son Charley, 8—with her husband, Michael Feldman.
Co-host Sheinelle Jones, who has undergone the same surgery, offered her support by gifting Guthrie the whiteboard she used during her recovery. Jones reflected on the positive aspects of being on vocal rest, stating, “The silver lining is you have permission to be still. The house gets quiet, the kids are gonna want to help you out.” She also added a light-hearted note, suggesting that perhaps Guthrie would emerge from recovery with a new singing talent, referencing iconic singer Celine Dion.
This surgery marks a significant step for Guthrie, who has been dealing with vocal issues for years. She expressed her relief at finally obtaining answers and the opportunity to improve her voice.
Fans of the “Today” show will undoubtedly continue to follow her journey as she recuperates and looks forward to returning to the screen.
