“Reality Show Reunion: Yura and Hong Jong Hyun Reflect After 12 Years”
The beloved reality variety show, We Got Married, originally aired on MBC from 2008 to 2017, capturing the hearts of viewers by showcasing celebrities in simulated marriages. Among the couples featured were actor Hong Jong Hyun and Yura from the girl group Girl’s Day. After more than a decade, the pair reunited in a new video on Yura’s YouTube channel, yurayurahae, released on January 8, 2024.
Long-Awaited Reunion Sparks Nostalgia
This 20-minute video marks the first official interaction between the two since their time on the show, specifically during episodes 223 to 262. As the video unfolds, Yura and Jong Hyun reminisce about their experiences on We Got Married, offering viewers a glimpse into their initial impressions of each other.
Yura recalls her first thoughts about Hong Jong Hyun, noting, “I thought he might be kinda mean.” She described him as appearing cold during their early days, saying, “Oppa was walking around MBC Music Core, doing this concept, like, ‘I’m looking for my wife.’” Despite this initial perception, she soon discovered a different side to him.
“He’s a model. Like, model-actor vibes. Total ‘cold city guy,’” Yura reflected, adding that it felt as though there was a barrier she couldn’t penetrate. “But the more I got to know you, I was like, ‘Wow, you’re actually super soft inside and you take such good care of people.’ I really felt that while we were filming.”
Memorable First Encounters
Hong Jong Hyun also shared his perspective on their initial meeting. He mentioned walking into the Girl’s Day waiting room, stating, “I was like, ‘Who is it?’” He quickly recognized the group, noting Yura was “hiding behind Sojin.” His first impression was that she had a shy demeanor, describing her vibe as soft and “kind of like a girly” presence.
As their conversations continued, Jong Hyun expressed gratitude for their contrasting personalities. “After a while, you were the opposite of me: bright, talkative, and I was glad we were different,” he said. Yura later suggested that their pairing was intentional, indicating that the production team likely thought she could help break through his perceived wall. “It feels like they paired us on purpose,” she remarked.
As the video draws to a close, their candid reflections not only highlight the charm of their past interactions but also the genuine bond they formed during their time on the show. Fans of We Got Married will undoubtedly appreciate this nostalgic reunion, as it brings back memories of a unique reality television experience.
For those interested in watching their full reunion, the video is available on Yura’s YouTube channel, where they continue to share insights about their time together and the impact it had on their lives.
