Iman is paying tribute to her late husband, David Bowie, on the 10th anniversary of his death with a new tattoo. The model and fashion icon shared a heartfelt post on Instagram on January 10, revealing the fresh ink as a lasting memorial to the legendary musician who passed away in 2016 at the age of 69.

In the video she posted, Iman documented the tattoo process on her arm, accompanied by the caption, “Jan 10th. The pain didn’t vanish… it left in its place a loving permanent mark,” and included the hashtag #BowieForever. The post featured Bowie’s song “Subterraneans,” a track from his acclaimed 1977 album, Low. While the exact meaning of the tattoo was not disclosed, Iman framed the gesture as both a remembrance and a symbol of enduring love.

Bowie died on January 10, 2016, after a private 18-month battle with cancer. His family announced the news via an official statement on his Facebook page, which noted that he had “died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer,” and requested that fans respect their privacy during this difficult time.

Enduring Love and Memories

Iman and Bowie first met in 1990, arranged through a blind date, and married two years later in 1992. Their daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones, was born in August 2000. Iman has frequently expressed the profound connection she shares with Bowie and how his presence continues to influence her life.

In a 2021 interview with People magazine, Iman reflected on her marriage in the years following his passing. “I still feel married,” she stated. “Someone a few years ago referred to David as my late husband, and I said, ‘No, he’s not my late husband. He’s my husband.’ Through my memory, my love lives.”

Earlier this week, Iman also commemorated what would have been Bowie’s 79th birthday with another touching Instagram tribute. She shared a black-and-white photograph of the iconic artist, captioning it, “Happy Heavenly Birthday. Your light burns so bright in all our hearts! We love and miss you.”

Alexandria Zahra Jones, now 25, also took to social media to honor her father, sharing nostalgic photos and writing, “Da big 79 today. Happy birthday pops, miss ya!”

Through these tributes, Iman and Alexandria demonstrate the lasting impact of David Bowie’s legacy, ensuring his memory remains vibrant and cherished by those who loved him.
