Bremer County Court Logs Reveal Marriages and Legal Sentences
On December 29, the Bremer County Court released logs detailing recent marriages and legal proceedings. The records highlight a series of weddings and significant court decisions involving various individuals, shedding light on local legal matters and community milestones.
Marriages Celebrated in Bremer County
Several couples recently tied the knot in Bremer County, with ceremonies taking place in various locations. Notable marriages include Mariah Kay Riley and Damon Tyrone Ross, who wed on October 17 in Waverly. Another couple, Madison Jay Stirling and Matthew Jeffrey Negen, exchanged vows the following day in Charles City.
Other couples included Laura Michele Hall and Brent Allen Mehmen, who married in Waverly on October 18. The same day, Kelly Marie Hogue and Kevin John Barnes celebrated their union in Nashua. In total, numerous couples from Waverly, Tripoli, and other nearby areas began their married lives together during this period.
Probation Violations and Legal Sentences
In addition to marriage ceremonies, the court records reveal several notable cases of probation violations and criminal charges. David Leroy Jones, aged 53, from Afton, had his probation revoked on a suspended sentence related to a forgery of a lottery ticket. Following his guilty plea, he faces a prison term of 2-5 years, which will be served concurrently with sentences from two other counties.
Another case involved Quaddre Phillip White, 26, from Saint Paul, Minnesota. His probation was revoked following a high-speed chase that ended in Black Hawk County on April 12, 2024. He now faces a modified sentence of up to five years for charges including possession with intent to deliver and eluding law enforcement.
The Magistrate Court also reported cases of theft. Jose Vicente Montano McCain, 42, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree theft and was ordered to pay a total of $186.06 in fines and restitution. His case stemmed from an insufficient funds incident investigated by the Waverly Police.
Additionally, Melinda Jean Hauser, 47, received a deferred judgment after pleading guilty to similar charges, resulting in a one-year unsupervised probation and a civil penalty of $180.56.
In District Court, several individuals faced serious charges. Jabari Jerun Mathews, 30, pleaded guilty to driving while barred, while Levi Gene Boevers, 22, was sentenced to two years of supervised probation for first-degree harassment. The court imposed fines and treatment requirements in both cases.
Notably, Jason Michael Pates, 55, was found guilty of first-offense operating while intoxicated (OWI) and sentenced to two days in a weekend diversion program. His case arose after police observed him driving a utility vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.
Overall, the Bremer County Court logs from December 29 present a snapshot of community events, underscoring both the celebratory nature of recent marriages and the ongoing legal challenges faced by several individuals in the area.
