The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra is set to present a concert on February 7, 2024, at Northern Kentucky University’s Graves Hall, showcasing the work of local composer Andrew Strawn alongside pieces by renowned visual artists. Titled Galerie Fantastique, this unique event will intertwine live music with projected artworks from famous creators like Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, and Viktor Hartmann.

Attendees can expect an evening that combines vibrant musical compositions with stunning visual presentations. The concert will feature Strawn’s music, as well as works from notable 20th-century composer Michael Daugherty and 19th-century Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky. Each performance will highlight a different set of visual art, creating an immersive experience for the audience.

The orchestra’s music director, James Cassidy, emphasized the dynamic nature of the concert, stating, “In addition to seeing famous artwork, all of the music is effervescent, illuminating and features the orchestra in sections, accompanying solos and in full flight.” This promises to be an engaging celebration of both music and art, offering attendees a chance to experience the synergy between these two forms of expression.

The concert begins at 19:30 local time, and ticket prices vary by seating. Interested individuals can find more information and purchase tickets at the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra’s official website, kyso.org/event/galerie-fantastique.

This event underscores the orchestra’s commitment to promoting local talent and enriching the cultural landscape of the region. By honoring Strawn’s contributions to contemporary music, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra continues to foster appreciation for the arts within the community.
