Remembering William F. Carney Sr.: A Life of Service and Family
William F. Carney Sr., known affectionately as Bill, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, following a period of declining health. He was 91 years old and leaves behind a rich legacy of family, service, and dedication to the outdoors.
Born on March 29, 1934, in Salem, Massachusetts, Bill grew up in Beverly, Massachusetts. He was one of five brothers and is predeceased by Jackie, Bob, Ralph, and Paul. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Eileen Carney, their two sons, William (Annie) and David, as well as five grandchildren: Michael (Maria), Alyson (Brycen), Colin, Jake, and Jack. He also cherished his two great-grandchildren, Skyla and Liam.
Bill served with honor as a veteran of the Korean Conflict, spending meaningful time in Korea. His commitment to public service continued after his military career; he was appointed as a commissioner for the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, serving Merrimack County for eight years. His passion for the outdoors was evident, as he dedicated countless hours to hunting and fishing, activities that brought him joy and connection with nature.
After retiring, Bill and Eileen settled in Bow, New Hampshire, where they built a community and continued to enjoy life together.
To celebrate his life, family and friends are invited to an Open House on January 24, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at 185 Robert Rogers Road, Dunbarton, NH. This gathering will honor Bill’s memory and the impact he had on those around him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Duck’s Unlimited, Inc., at 1 Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120, supporting conservation efforts that were close to Bill’s heart.
Bill F. Carney Sr. will be remembered not only for his military service and commitment to the environment, but also for his love of family and the values he instilled in those he cherished.
