Korean Rapper Choi Ha Min Reflects on Past Misconduct and Recovery
Choi Ha Min, known by his stage name Osshun Gum, has publicly addressed his past following a serious legal issue. The rapper was indicted in 2022 for sexually molesting a nine-year-old boy, an incident that has significantly impacted his life and career. Choi has since expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging the pain caused to the victim and their family.
In a statement following the incident, Choi Ha Min stated, “I am sincerely sorry once again for causing pain to the victim and the victim’s family due to an absurd incident while I was unwell. I will undergo proper treatment to ensure this does not happen again.” His apology reflects an understanding of the gravity of his actions and a commitment to personal growth.
Current Status and Personal Reflection
After a period of absence from the public eye, Choi Ha Min has shared insights into his current situation. He is now employed at a furniture factory, a job he views as a step towards reintegration into society. Choi revealed that he has been battling bipolar disorder, stating, “Though it’s no excuse, my bipolar disorder was at its worst then, and I take full responsibility for everything. I am deeply reflecting on it.”
Choi has openly discussed the complexities surrounding his mental health, emphasizing that while it contributed to his behavior, it does not absolve him of responsibility. He noted, “The story is very complicated, but that’s just an excuse and a way of not accepting my fault, so I am still restraining myself.” His commitment to accountability indicates a desire to move forward positively.
Support System and Future Aspirations
In his reflections, Choi acknowledged the significant role of his girlfriend in his recovery journey. “I am working so I can live well as a member of society, and my girlfriend helps me a lot,” he explained. He described how their relationship inspired him to strive for a better version of himself, saying, “The turning point where I got my mind straight was after meeting my girlfriend. I thought I shouldn’t live like this if I want to be a man worthy of her, since she is so beautiful compared to me.”
Choi Ha Min’s relationship has provided him with crucial emotional support during a challenging period. “My girlfriend was a huge support during my difficult times. She is the only one I have. When everyone else left, she was the person who stayed by my side,” he stated, highlighting the importance of companionship in his life.
As Choi continues to navigate the aftermath of his actions, his story serves as a reminder of the complexities of personal responsibility and the potential for redemption through support and self-reflection. While he grapples with his past, his journey towards healing and accountability remains a focal point of his current life.
