Americans Must Act Now: $2,500 Data Breach Settlement Deadline Approaches
URGENT UPDATE: Americans are urged to act immediately as the deadline for claiming compensation from a significant data breach settlement approaches. The deadline to file claims with Landmark Admin is set for December 26, 2024, and missing it could mean losing out on potential compensation of up to $2,500.
Landmark Admin, a third-party administrator for various insurance companies, has faced serious allegations of failing to secure sensitive customer data. The breach, which occurred between May 13 and June 17, 2024, compromised personal information, including Social Security numbers, for customers at six insurance companies.
The companies affected include:
- American Benefit Life Insurance Company
- Capitol Life Insurance Company
- Liberty Bankers Life Insurance Company
- American Monumental Life Insurance Company
- Continental Mutual Insurance Company
- Accendo Insurance Company
While Landmark Admin has not admitted to any wrongdoing, they have agreed to pay out $6 million to settle claims and avoid potential legal action. Plaintiffs argued that improved cybersecurity measures could have prevented this serious data leak.
Individuals who may have been affected by the breach have been notified and can claim compensation. Those who can provide documentation of out-of-pocket losses due to the incident, such as fraud or identity theft, can receive up to $2,500. Acceptable proof includes financial documents like bank statements or credit reports.
For those unable to provide proof, a claim without documentation can yield a maximum of $30, though this amount may fluctuate based on the total number of successful claims. The more people that claim, the more the settlement fund will need to be divided.
The clock is ticking: the deadline to file claims is December 26, 2024. If you do not submit your claim by this date, you will forfeit your opportunity for compensation. Previously, the deadline to object to the settlement payout was November 25, 2024.
Mark your calendars for the final approval hearing on January 29, 2026, after which payments will begin distribution. Don’t wait—visit the settlement website now to file your claim and secure the compensation you may be entitled to.
ACT NOW: This could be a crucial opportunity to recover losses stemming from the data breach. Ensure you have all necessary documentation ready and file your claim before it’s too late!
