Arkansas Surges to Top of U.S. Migration Rankings in 2025
UPDATE: New data from moving company Atlas Van Lines reveals that Arkansas has emerged as the top state for inbound movers in 2025, welcoming an impressive 68% of new residents. This compelling shift in migration patterns indicates significant changes in where Americans are choosing to relocate, with the Sun Belt states continuing to draw attention.
The study tracked state-to-state migration from November 1, 2024, to October 31, 2025. While the Midwest is experiencing a surge in popularity, it surprisingly does not feature in the top ten list of states gaining movers. Instead, the Sun Belt remains a favored destination for many seeking affordability and job opportunities.
Despite the seeming mobility of Americans, the U.S. Census reported that only 2.1% of the population changed states in 2024, amounting to around 7 million people. This highlights a more selective movement among individuals and families.
