Urgent Weather Update: Cooler Temps, Morning Fog, and Warm-Up Ahead

URGENT WEATHER UPDATE: San Diego is experiencing a cooler, breezier Tuesday with morning fog as a low-pressure system moves inland from the west. The National Weather Service reports that while this weather system won’t bring significant rain, residents should expect patchy morning fog and marine-layer drizzle.

As of 2 p.m. today, San Diegans may notice some virga—rain that evaporates before reaching the ground—along the coast. These conditions could lead to lower visibility during the Wednesday morning commute, with potential sprinkles on the way.

Temperatures will remain cool with highs in the low 70s for the coast and mountains, and mid 70s for the valleys. Winds are set to pick up significantly this afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 22 MPH along the coast and valleys, and as high as 30 MPH in the mountains and deserts.

The low-pressure system is expected to shift northeast, bringing isolated rain and snow to parts of the Sierra. However, the forecast shows a transition to drier, warmer conditions starting Thursday, with a significant warm-up projected for Monday and Tuesday of next week, where temperatures could soar to the mid to upper 70s on the coast and mid to upper 80s in the valleys.

In just over two weeks, San Diego will also undergo the end of daylight saving time. On November 2, the sun will rise at 6:07 a.m. and set at 4:56 p.m., marking a notable change in the daily schedule for residents.
