BREAKING: The city of San Diego has activated its emergency inclement weather shelter program for tonight due to dangerously low temperatures and impending rain. The San Diego Housing Commission confirmed the activation just hours ago, urging those experiencing homelessness to seek shelter immediately.

With temperatures predicted to drop below 50 degrees and a 40% chance of rain, the city’s program is designed to provide urgent relief during extreme weather conditions. Shelters are available tonight at three key locations:

– **Living Water Church of the Nazarene:** Located at 1550 Market St., this shelter can accommodate up to 28 adults. Check-in begins at 8 p.m. with on-site reservations from 1-4 p.m. and check-out at 6:30 a.m. the next morning.

– **Joan Kroc Center:** Situated at 1501 Imperial Ave., this facility offers space for up to 61 adults and an additional 11 beds for families with children or single women. Check-in starts at 4 p.m. and remains open throughout the night until full, with check-out at 5 a.m..

– **Father Joe’s Villages Paul Mirabile Center:** Also at 1501 Imperial Ave., this shelter has a capacity for up to 62 adults. Like the Joan Kroc Center, check-in begins at 4 p.m. and continues until full, with check-out at 5 a.m..

Individuals seeking shelter are encouraged to arrive early, as beds are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is activated whenever the temperature drops below 50 degrees with a 40% chance of rain, or when temperatures hit 45 degrees or below, regardless of rain forecasts. Additional weather-related triggers include heavy rainfall exceeding 1 inch within 24 hours or sustained high winds.

This program is crucial for protecting vulnerable populations during severe weather conditions. With the cold snap expected to persist, officials are urging anyone in need to take advantage of these emergency shelters immediately.

Stay tuned for updates on the weather and shelter availability, as conditions can change rapidly. Your awareness and action can make a significant difference for those in need tonight.
