UPDATE: Ryan Gosling electrified audiences on March 7, 2024, during his monologue on Saturday Night Live when he unexpectedly revived his hit song “I’m Just Ken” from the blockbuster film Barbie. The surprise moment happened thanks to a pre-scheduled appearance by pop star Harry Styles, who was in the audience ahead of his own hosting duties next week.

During the live broadcast at Studio 8H, Gosling, 45, was promoting his new sci-fi film Project Hail Mary when Styles, 32, made an impromptu entrance that derailed the monologue. “Well, I’m hosting next week and it’s been a while,” Styles remarked, referencing his previous SNL appearance in November 2019. The unexpected visit brought an air of excitement but also threw Gosling off his game.

As the cameras frequently cut to Styles, Gosling humorously lamented, “Could you listen less cool? It’s like your coolness is becoming an issue.” Styles, wearing an “I<3 Harry” T-shirt, added to the distraction, leading Gosling to announce he was cutting a planned alien-themed sketch with SNL cast member Sarah Sherman.

In a light-hearted moment, Sherman joked, “Harry Styles is here? Get me to God’s country,” referencing a memorable SNL walk-off. The situation escalated when Gosling attempted to sing Styles’ hit “Sign of the Times,” only to abruptly stop and admit, “nobody wants this.”

To regain his footing, Gosling transitioned into singing the chorus of “I’m Just Ken,” reminiscing about performing it at the Oscars in 2024. “I just thought I had another one in me, I guess?” he quipped, prompting a supportive kiss from SNL cast member Mikey Day. The entire cast soon joined him on stage, with Kenan Thompson humorously correcting, “No! We just came to get a better look at Harry!”

The monologue culminated in a spirited sing-along of “Sign of the Times,” with Styles beaming from the front row, creating a memorable moment for fans.

Saturday Night Live continues next week on March 14 at 11:30 p.m. ET, featuring Styles as both host and musical guest, promising to keep the excitement alive. Fans eagerly await what surprises the next show will bring as this energetic exchange between Gosling and Styles sets the stage for a thrilling episode.
