Remembering Paula A. DeGasperis: A Life of Love and Service
Paula A. DeGasperis, aged 78, passed away on January 10, 2026, at Ellis Hospital in Rotterdam. Born in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Chris and Angelina Scappalura Andreakris. Paula’s educational journey included graduating from Saratoga High School and Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
Her professional career began at Travelers Insurance, but she is perhaps best known for her long tenure at United Healthcare on Wolf Road, where she made a significant impact over many years. Paula’s dedication to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family.
A Life Rich with Love and Community Service
Paula was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Joseph DeGasperis, a loss she bore with grace. Paula is survived by her twin daughters, Denise DeGasperis of Valatie and Debra Saburro (William) of Schenectady. The family extends to include her grandchildren, Joseph Sutter, Danielle Carrigan, Brandon Saburro, and Jennifer Winkler (Matthew), along with her sister Michelle Natale (Phil) and brother-in-law Robert DeGasperis (Kathy), as well as several nieces and nephews.
Beyond her family life, Paula found joy in simple pleasures. She was an avid shopper on QVC and a dedicated fan of the Denver Broncos. Notably, she expressed her creativity through crocheting, making baby outfits for Birthright of Schenectady. This act of kindness provided comfort to many families in need and showcased her caring spirit.
Final Farewell and Memorial Contributions
Calling hours for Paula will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, located at 501 Union Street. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Cyril & Method Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Paula’s memory to Birthright of Schenectady at birthright.org/Schenectady. Paula A. DeGasperis will be remembered not only for her professional achievements but also for her loving nature and unwavering commitment to her family and community.
