Man Claims Innocence in Nana Home Invasion, Files Countersuit
URGENT UPDATE: A man convicted for breaking into the home of actress and After School member Nana is stirring controversy from behind bars, claiming his innocence in a sensational letter sent to JTBC. The 30-year-old suspect, identified as A, was arrested in November 2022 for armed robbery and assault after invading Nana’s residence in Guri, Gyeonggi Province.
In his lengthy letter, A denies premeditation, asserting, “I only intended to commit theft and did not prepare any weapons in advance.” He claims to have entered the home while wearing gloves and a headset, alleging that during a struggle, Nana stabbed him with a weapon found in the house, presenting himself as the victim in a shocking twist.
A’s letter raises eyebrows as he states his motive was to secure money for his mother’s hospital bills. However, he further alleges that during police questioning, Nana’s team offered him ₩40.0 million KRW (approximately $27,700 USD) in exchange for falsely testifying that he entered the home armed. Initially, he claims to have adhered to this agreement but later decided to reveal what he calls the truth.
In an alarming development, A has also filed a countersuit against Nana, accusing her of attempted murder and aggravated assault—claims that contradict police findings. Authorities confirmed that A did indeed invade the home using a ladder to access the veranda while armed, threatening Nana’s mother and putting her life at risk.
Nana, alerted by her mother’s screams, acted quickly to subdue A, who sustained a laceration to his chin during the altercation. The police ruled that Nana and her mother’s defensive actions were justified, emphasizing, “There was a clear invasion of the victims’ rights, and there is no indication that excessive force was used.”
Nana’s agency has vehemently rejected A’s allegations, declaring that his statements regarding financial incentives and weapons agreements are completely false. They stated, “The perpetrator is causing secondary harm by filing a countersuit against the victim without remorse and exploiting Nana’s celebrity status.” The agency further asserted that they would pursue all legal avenues against A.
Some observers suggest that A’s countersuit and prison letter may be strategic maneuvers aimed at reducing his sentence or inciting debate surrounding self-defense. The police have indicated they will revisit the case, as a complaint has been filed.
As this situation develops, Nana has taken to social media to express her feelings, sharing an emotional message with her fans. Stay tuned for updates on this unfolding story as legal proceedings continue.
