Knoxville Girls Wrestling Team Achieves Major Milestones in Year Two

In its second year, the Knoxville Girls Wrestling Squad made significant progress, showcasing improvements in performance and confidence. The Panthers achieved a remarkable dual meet record of 18-7, clinched a meet victory, and sent two wrestlers to the prestigious 2023 State Meet.

Coach Doug Hatch expressed pride in the team’s development. “The girls wrestled much more confidently this season in tougher meets,” he stated, highlighting their ability to defeat numerous ranked opponents. The team also secured a tournament win and finished second in several others.

This season marked a turning point for the Panthers, who experienced an increase in winning records. Coach Hatch noted that there were three winning records last year, while this year saw a total of ten. This improvement underscores the hard work and dedication of the athletes.

Despite the success, the team will face challenges as they prepare for the upcoming season, with the graduation of four key seniors: Serenity Turner, Cally Landis, Andie Branson, and Alyssa McCreery. However, Coach Hatch remains optimistic about the future, as many returning wrestlers are still young and have two or even three seasons ahead of them.

The Knoxville Girls Wrestling Squad’s achievements reflect not only the talent of its athletes but also the commitment of their coaching staff to foster a competitive and supportive environment.
