URGENT UPDATE: James D. Styer, aged 80, of Exeter Township, has passed away on January 4, 2026. This significant loss is felt deeply by family and friends as they prepare to honor his memory in a memorial service scheduled for January 12, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Lutz Funeral Home in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Styer was the devoted husband of the late Cynthia G. (Kline) Styer, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 2018. The family recalls Jim as a dedicated individual, both in his personal life and in his career, which spanned many years in the electrical sales industry. He worked at Progress Electric Supply before retiring from Colonial Electric Supply.

A proud veteran, Styer served in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his character and commitment to service. He graduated from Exeter High School in 1963 and later attended Penn State University. His legacy continues through his children: Andrew J. Styer, fiancé of Kimberly Moyer, and Paula Styer, spouse of Kelly Eghujovbo, alongside his grandchildren: Evan Styer (fiancé: Katie Nunn), Luke Styer, Nathan Styer, Aiden Tobias, and Henry Moyer-Daniels.

Styer is also survived by his brothers, John and Joel Styer, as well as brothers-in-law Paul “Kenny” Kline and Leonard Readinger. His close friend and travel companion, Roxann Frain, and his beloved cat, B.C., are part of the cherished memories he leaves behind.

The memorial service will include visitation with family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by services at 11:00 AM at Lutz Funeral Home, located at 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Those wishing to pay their respects can also attend the interment at Forest Hills Memorial Park, located at 390 W Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research, honoring his late wife’s memory. Donations can be made online at https://lustgarten.org/donatenow.

For those who knew him, Styer’s passing marks a profound loss. His life story and the impact he made will be remembered at the upcoming memorial service.
