Harold (Hal) Warren, 87, Passes Away, Family Plans Celebration of Life

BREAKING: Harold (Hal) Warren, a beloved community member, has passed away at the age of 87. He died peacefully on November 29, 2025, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, leaving a profound impact on his family and the community of Johnstown, NY.

Harold, born on July 9, 1938, in Camden, NJ, was known for his dedication to public service and the arts. He served in the Army National Guard for 8 years and made significant contributions to the local community as a firefighter with the City of Johnstown for 18 years. In 1971, he founded the Johnstown Area Volunteer Ambulance Corp (JAVAC), showcasing his commitment to helping others.

His professional journey included pivotal roles at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ, and GTE Data Services in Johnstown. Beyond his career, Harold was passionate about music and theater, actively participating in numerous local productions, including those with Colonial Little Theater and The Galway Players. He also served as a percussion instructor at Oppenheim Ephratah School, inspiring young musicians for several years.

Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Dawn Warren, and their children, including Leslie (Rick) Garber, Heather (Jack) Hladik, and Lindsay Warren. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who fondly remember him as a guiding presence in their lives.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home and the SCU at Nathan Littauer Hospital for their exceptional care during Harold’s final days. As they mourn this significant loss, they have opted for no formal services. Instead, a Celebration of Life is planned for Spring, allowing family and friends to honor his memory together.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Brennan Humane Society or the Fulton County Regional SPCA, reflecting Harold’s love for animals and community service.
