Grafton Group Aims to Raise $100,000 for New Splash Structure
URGENT UPDATE: A dedicated group in Grafton, North Dakota is racing against the clock to raise $100,000 by February 12, coinciding with Giving Hearts Day, to fund a vibrant splash play structure at the new community pool. This initiative aims to revitalize a vital recreational hub for future generations as the existing pools, nearing 70 years old, desperately need an upgrade.
The North Valley Career and Technology Center and its Future Business Leaders of America students are spearheading this fundraising effort, emphasizing the importance of maintaining this gathering space for local youth. Paige Suda, a passionate student from the program, stated, “The pool was a place for me to hang out, and a whole bunch of kids in the past to hang out. I feel that it’s very important we keep that up for the future generations that haven’t been able to experience that yet.”
The new community pool is projected to cost approximately $6 million, with funding already secured through a sales tax to cover about half of the expenses. This collective effort highlights the community’s commitment to fostering a fun and safe environment for children and families during the summer months.
As the clock ticks down, the Grafton Parks and Recreation team is urging residents and supporters to contribute and help make this splash structure a reality. The vision is clear: a modern facility that not only serves as a recreational space but also promotes community involvement and enjoyment.
Local officials stress the urgency of this fundraising initiative, as it represents not just an investment in infrastructure but a commitment to the community’s future. The success of this project depends on the generosity of local donors, businesses, and anyone who values the importance of accessible recreational spaces.
WHAT’S NEXT: With just days left until Giving Hearts Day, every donation counts. Residents are encouraged to visit fundraising platforms and social media pages to contribute and share the cause. This is a pivotal moment for Grafton, as the community rallies behind a project that promises to enhance the lives of many for generations to come.
Stay tuned for further updates as the fundraising campaign progresses towards its critical deadline. The community’s support is vital to ensure that the next generation can experience the joy of summer splashes in Grafton.
