UPDATE: Google has just announced a groundbreaking expansion of its Gemini app, transforming it into a powerful AI shopping assistant through partnerships with major retailers including Walmart, Shopify, and Wayfair. In a recent analysis, Salesforce estimated that AI influenced approximately $272 billion, or 20%, of all global retail sales during the holiday season, underscoring the significant impact of technology on consumer behavior.

The National Retail Federation conference is expected to focus heavily on AI’s role in reshaping commerce. Mike Edmonds, PayPal’s vice president of agentic commerce, cautioned attendees against a passive approach to these advancements, highlighting the necessity for retailers to adapt swiftly to changing consumer expectations.
