Dodgers Set to Face Scherzer as World Series Game 3 Approaches
UPDATE: The Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up for a critical Game 3 of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, set for October 16, 2025, at Dodger Stadium. The urgency is palpable as former Dodgers pitcher Max Scherzer takes the mound for Toronto, igniting memories of a turbulent past.
In a stark contrast to their previous postseason struggles, the Dodgers have adopted a straightforward pitching strategy that has propelled them to a remarkable 10-2 postseason record. This year, they have relied on a formidable rotation featuring Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Shohei Ohtani, aligning their approach with the needs of their starting pitchers.
Back in 2021, the Dodgers faced backlash for their unconventional tactics. Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez criticized the team for misusing their top-tier rotation, saying, “They need to figure out a way to let starters be who they really are.” This year, however, the Dodgers have reversed course, allowing their starters to take control of the game.
The Dodgers’ strategy appears to be paying off. They have secured victories in all games where their starting pitcher has completed six innings. This performance underscores the importance of a reliable rotation, a far cry from the bullpen games they relied on last postseason.
As they prepare for Game 3, Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior emphasized the collective talent of their starters, noting, “Clearly, Blake Snell, Yama, Glasnow, Shohei, all really good pitchers.” This confidence, coupled with a cohesive team strategy, has reinvigorated the Dodgers’ postseason ambitions.
The stakes are high with Scherzer on the opposing side, a pitcher who has faced his share of challenges in past postseason appearances. Reflecting on his previous tenure with the Dodgers, Scherzer expressed, “I wouldn’t be looking backwards at all for any motivation. I have plenty of motivation. I’m here to win.”
The Dodgers are focused on securing a spot in the World Series championship, with the key question looming: Can Tyler Glasnow deliver six or seven solid innings? If successful, the Dodgers could inch closer to breaking their championship drought.
Fans and analysts alike are eagerly anticipating the outcome of this pivotal matchup. With the Dodgers’ new approach to pitching, the excitement is building as they aim to leave behind their past struggles and embrace the present.
As the clock ticks down to game time, the Dodgers are ready to showcase their revamped strategy and chase victory against Scherzer and the Blue Jays. Keep an eye on Dodger Stadium tonight; a win could set the tone for the series.
