Artisan AI Reinstated on LinkedIn After Controversial Ban
UPDATE: After a brief ban, Artisan AI is officially back on LinkedIn, a development confirmed by CEO Jaspar Carmichael-Jack earlier today. The San Francisco-based startup, which specializes in AI-driven outbound sales, was abruptly removed from the platform, sparking widespread speculation and viral posts on social media.
The ban, which occurred on October 10, 2023, saw Artisan’s LinkedIn page and employee profiles displaying a “This post cannot be displayed” message. Carmichael-Jack explained that the company was restricted while LinkedIn’s enforcement team reviewed its practices, leading to an unexpected surge in interest. “Our lead flow suddenly started inching up every day,” he noted, humorously suggesting that the situation felt like a guerrilla marketing scheme.
LinkedIn’s concerns were not related to spamming, as many rumors suggested. Instead, the platform objected to Artisan using its name on its website and alleged that the startup had engaged with data brokers who scraped LinkedIn without permission—an action that violates LinkedIn’s terms of service. To resolve the issue, Artisan promptly removed all mentions of LinkedIn from its site and ensured compliance with third-party vendor verification.
Carmichael-Jack acknowledged the helpfulness of LinkedIn’s team throughout the process, despite their anonymity. He remarked, “It was not ideal to disappear from the platform, but we managed to turn it into a positive.”
As Artisan AI rejoins LinkedIn, it prepares to launch an upgraded version of its AI agent, Ava, which will enhance its ability to contact prospects through new channels, including outbound calling, set to debut in the coming months. “If the LinkedIn ban could not have been reversed, it wouldn’t be the end of the world,” Carmichael-Jack asserted, highlighting the startup’s resilience.
Despite LinkedIn’s introduction of its own AI agent, Hiring Assistant, focused on recruitment, the dynamics of this incident indicate that LinkedIn is closely monitoring emerging players in the AI marketing space. The swift response from LinkedIn serves as a cautionary tale for startups navigating data compliance and platform regulations.
As the tech community digests this turn of events, Artisan AI’s reinstatement underscores the importance of adherence to platform policies in an increasingly competitive environment. For now, the company is back in action, aiming to solidify its position in the market and continue its innovative drive.
Stay tuned for further updates as Artisan AI rolls out its new features and reestablishes its presence on LinkedIn.
