Red Bluff Players Shine as All-Section Football Team Announced

In a significant recognition of talent and hard work, Jaret Bridwell and Adan Rodriguez from Red Bluff High School have been named to the first-team All-Northern Section Football Team. This honor comes from the Northern Section Media Panel, which highlights outstanding athletes across the region. Bridwell’s impressive performance as a linebacker and Rodriguez’s strength as an offensive guard secured their spots for another consecutive year.

Outstanding Performances Highlighted

Bridwell, who led the section with an impressive 173 tackles, also recorded 23 tackles for loss and earned the title of Eastern Athletic League Defensive MVP. His consistent excellence on the field is evident, as this marks his second year on the first-team roster. Similarly, Rodriguez, maintaining his spot on the first team, has shown remarkable skill and resilience throughout the season.

Joining them on the second team are Jackie Graves, a wide receiver, and Bryce Owens, an outside linebacker. Graves recorded 35 receptions for 508 yards, scoring six touchdowns, and also made five interceptions on defense. Owens, on the other hand, made 100 tackles this year, achieving a section-best 40 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks, showcasing his defensive prowess.

Additionally, Kaleb Flournoy from Corning High School was named as an All-Section athlete in the offensive second team. Flournoy scored 24 touchdowns, ranking second in the Northern Section, and returned three kickoffs for touchdowns. His total rushing yards reached 1,098, further solidifying his athletic reputation.

League MVPs and Notable Achievements

The prestigious title of Northern Section Offensive MVP went to Lane Brown, the quarterback from Winters High School. Brown made history by surpassing the 2,000-yard mark in both rushing and passing in a single season. His accomplishments include rushing for 2,279 yards with 27 touchdowns and throwing for 2,272 yards with 26 touchdown passes. Under his leadership, Winters clinched the state championship, defeating Morse with a score of 28-7.

Another remarkable athlete, Wyatt Gillett from Los Molinos, rushed for over 2,000 yards this year, with a total of 2,187 yards and 21 touchdowns. Despite his achievements, he did not secure a spot on the team due to the depth of talent in the running back category.

Other notable mentions include Titus Andrus from Pleasant Valley, who recorded 1,521 yards and 21 touchdowns before sustaining a knee injury. He was recognized as the Eastern Athletic League Offensive MVP and also earned first-team honors. Dowan Stephens from Lassen, with a section-best 29 touchdowns, also secured a first-team selection.

On the defensive side, Jason Davis of Gridley was named Defensive MVP, while Gerald Piper, head coach of Redding Christian, received the Bob Reid Northern Section Football Coach of the Year award, leading his team to a state championship victory.

The All-Northern Section Football Team highlights the best of the best in high school football, showcasing talent and dedication across various positions and schools. As the season concludes, these young athletes have set a high standard for future players in the league.
