New Latter-day Saint Temple Set for Construction in Spanish Fork
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has revealed plans for a new temple in Spanish Fork, Utah. The Spanish Fork Utah Temple will be built on an 8.7-acre site located at the intersection of 100 South and 2550 East. This temple is part of a broader initiative to serve the state’s growing Latter-day Saint community, which numbers nearly 2.2 million members.
The announcement came during the church’s general conference in April 2025, where Russell M. Nelson, the late Church President, emphasized the importance of worship in the temple. He stated, “Regular worship in the house of the Lord increases our capacity for both virtue and charity.” He further expressed that time spent in the temple enhances confidence before the Lord and prepares members for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Plans for the new temple indicate it will be a multistory structure covering approximately 80,000 square feet. Alongside the temple, an ancillary building will also be constructed on the site. Although an exterior rendering has not yet been released, the announcement has generated excitement among local church members and the broader community.
The Spanish Fork Utah Temple will be one of 32 Latter-day Saint temples currently operational, under construction, or in the planning stages across Utah. This reflects the church’s commitment to expanding its reach and accessibility for worshippers in the region. As construction progresses, the temple is expected to become a significant landmark in Spanish Fork, enhancing the spiritual and cultural landscape of the area.
The temple’s construction aligns with the church’s ongoing efforts to provide spaces for worship and community service, allowing members to engage more deeply in their faith. Further details regarding the timeline for construction and the dedication of the temple will be provided by the church as they become available.
