The No. 8 Gonzaga Bulldogs secured a decisive victory against the No. 25 UCLA Bruins, winning 82-72 in Seattle on December 2, 2023. This win improves Gonzaga’s record to 9-1 for the season. Graham Ike was instrumental in the victory, contributing a remarkable 25 points and five assists.

Ike’s performance included a highlight-reel moment in the first half, where he executed a powerful tomahawk dunk at the 8:02 mark, pushing Gonzaga ahead 23-19. This dunk came shortly after Adam Miller had given Gonzaga their first lead with a three-pointer, overcoming an early 7-0 deficit.

UCLA, now 7-3, was led by Tyler Bilodeau, who scored 22 points, shooting an impressive 4 of 6 from beyond the arc. Despite trailing 45-40 at halftime, the Bruins mounted a comeback with a 9-0 run that included a layup from Donovan Dent, allowing them to briefly take the lead, 54-53.

The game remained competitive as both teams exchanged baskets until Gonzaga regained control. A three-pointer from Braeden Smith with 10:37 remaining put the Bulldogs ahead for good at 62-60. Gonzaga closed out the game strongly, scoring 20 of the last 32 points.

While Gonzaga’s victory was solid, their free throw shooting left room for improvement. The Bulldogs converted only 20 of 32 attempts, resulting in a shooting percentage of 62.5% from the line.

In addition to Ike’s standout performance, Braden Huff added 21 points for Gonzaga, showcasing the team’s depth. For UCLA, Dent not only scored 12 points but also achieved a season-high with 10 assists. Xavier Booker matched Dent’s scoring with another 12 points, but the Bruins faced challenges, losing three of their last five games.

Looking forward, UCLA will aim to bounce back as they host Arizona State on Wednesday night. The Bruins are eager to regain momentum in their season.
