Cowboy Football Unveils Spring Game Schedule Under Eric Morris
Oklahoma State University’s Cowboy football team will offer fans an early glimpse of its revamped roster at the Spring Game on April 18, 2024. Under the new leadership of head coach Eric Morris, this event marks the return of a cherished tradition. The Spring Game, which was reinstated last year, will showcase the team’s significant roster changes and new strategies ahead of the upcoming season.
Last season, Oklahoma State garnered attention with the seventh-ranked transfer portal class in the nation and the top class in the Big 12, according to 247Sports. With 53 new additions to the team, expectations are high for the Cowboys as they prepare to build on last year’s performance. Fans are particularly eager to see new talent like running back Caleb Hawkins, who previously ranked fifth in the nation for rushing yards while playing at North Texas.
Hawkins expressed his enthusiasm for joining Oklahoma State, stating, “So much excitement. Obviously, I grew up here (Oklahoma), this is my dream school.” He hopes to replicate his success behind the revamped offensive line and become a standout player for the Cowboys.
Another key player expected to shine is quarterback Drew Mestemaker, who brings impressive statistics to Stillwater. Last year, Mestemaker led the nation with 4,379 passing yards and finished second in passing touchdowns with 34. His journey as a walk-on player adds an inspiring dimension to his story, fueling his drive to excel. “From the coaches to the players, you don’t see 15 five stars on this team,” Mestemaker commented. “It’s a bunch of guys that kind of got overlooked.”
The Spring Game will take place at 4 p.m. at Boone Pickens Stadium, inviting all Cowboy fans to experience the excitement firsthand. With the atmosphere expected to be electric, this event provides an essential preview of how the Cowboys plan to approach the upcoming season. As the team gears up for August, the Spring Game promises to set the tone for what lies ahead.
With both Hawkins and Mestemaker eager to showcase their skills, the anticipation surrounding the Spring Game reflects the hope and ambition of a program eager to make its mark in the upcoming season.
