The Cold Springs Lady Eagles secured their place in the Junior Varsity girls championship game with a decisive 43-31 victory over the Good Hope Lady Raiders on March 15, 2025. The game, held in Hanceville, Alabama, showcased Cold Springs’ strong performance throughout, particularly in the first half, where they established a commanding lead that they maintained until the final whistle.

Strong Start and Tactical Play

The matchup began with Cold Springs, the second seed, taking an early lead. Hagen Ellis opened the scoring with two free throws, followed by a layup from Good Hope’s Gracie Gray that tied the game at two. However, Zoe Miller quickly regained the advantage for Cold Springs with a three-pointer, pushing the score to 5-2.

Good Hope momentarily took the lead at 6-5 after a three-pointer from Ella Eisner. Yet, Cold Springs responded decisively, with a floater from Jiselle Creel and another three from Ellis, leading to a 10-6 advantage. By the end of the first quarter, the Lady Eagles had extended their lead to 16-7.

Building Momentum in the Second Half

The second quarter saw Cold Springs expand their lead significantly. After Gracie Garmon scored for Good Hope, the Lady Eagles went on a scoring spree, with baskets from Kallaway McKinnon and others, culminating in a 28-10 lead. Good Hope managed to finish the half stronger, with Garmon scoring again to bring the halftime score to 28-16.

The third quarter started with Good Hope’s Riley Lansford completing a three-point play, trimming the deficit to 28-19. However, Cold Springs quickly regained control, with Joli Williams hitting a three-pointer and Miller contributing a basket, increasing their lead to 35-21.

As the game progressed into the final period, Cold Springs maintained their double-digit lead.
