A resident of San Pedro since 1962, she was known for her unwavering commitment to family, faith, and community service. Gloria’s life was marked by her deep roots in her family and her contributions to education in the Los Angeles area.
A Life Well-Lived
Born in Los Angeles in 1921 to Henry and Bertha Becnel, Gloria attended Fremont High School. She began her career at the Owl Rexall headquarters, where she met her future husband, Don Ronnau, who passed away in 2007. Together, they built a family foundation based on faith, loyalty, and love.
Gloria was the mother of four children: Donny Ronnau, who passed away in 2023; Diane Ronnau, who died in 2022; Ann Sidler (Derald); and Carol Randolph. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and a great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished dearly. Known affectionately as “Auntie Glo,” she held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews.
A Commitment to Community
Gloria dedicated 20 years to the Los Angeles Unified School District, serving at both Banning High School and Dodson Middle School. Her impact extended beyond her professional life; she created a nurturing environment for her family and friends, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and loved.
Her faith was a guiding principle in her life, evident in her humility and generosity. Gloria’s legacy lies in the lives she touched, providing a steady presence and support to those around her. She exemplified the values of kindness and dedication, shaping generations through her actions rather than accolades.
Gloria witnessed a remarkable century of change, yet remained steadfast in her beliefs and commitment to her family. Her life was characterized by devotion, and her love continues to resonate with those who knew her.
The community is invited to honor Gloria’s memory during a visitation on December 21, 2023, from 14:00 to 18:00 at Green Hills Memorial Park, Cove Room, where a Recitation of the Rosary will take place at 16:00. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 on December 22 at Holy Trinity Church, followed by burial at Green Hills Memorial Park.
Gloria Ronnau’s life was a testament to the strength of family and faith. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.
