The Florida Institute of Technology will host a distinguished lecture featuring Maj. Gen. Timothy Sejba on February 19, 2024. The event, part of the F. Alan Smith Distinguished Lecture Series, is set to take place from 17:30 to 19:00 at the Gleason Performing Arts Center on the university’s Melbourne campus.

Maj. Gen. Sejba, who previously commanded the Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), will present his insights in a lecture titled “Three Waves of Space Force-Led Innovation: Transportation To, In, and From Space.” This timely discussion will explore how the U.S. Space Force is spearheading advancements in launch, on-orbit operations, and return capabilities—areas that are becoming increasingly vital for national security, commercial spaceflight, and scientific progress.

The lecture is free and open to the public, although registration is requested. Attendees can register online to secure their spot. Following the presentation, there will be a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to engage directly with one of the leading figures in the space sector.

The F. Alan Smith Distinguished Lecture Series aims to bring together nationally and internationally recognized leaders to share insights on critical topics related to science, technology, policy, and innovation. This initiative underscores Florida Tech’s strong connections to the Space Coast and its commitment to supporting the evolving space industry.

As the space landscape continues to change, discussions like these become essential for fostering understanding and collaboration within the community. The event promises to provide valuable perspectives on the future of space operations and innovation in the United States.
