Louis Edward Goldberg, an esteemed member of his community, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 after a courageous battle with cancer. His family announced his passing, reflecting on the impact he made throughout his life.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, to David and Paula Goldberg, Louis spent his formative years in Arizona. He was raised alongside his sister, Evelyn, in a close-knit family environment that instilled strong values. Louis later married Sheila Burd Goldberg, the love of his life, and together they moved to California, where they dedicated themselves to raising their children.
Louis pursued a solid educational background, beginning at Arizona State University before graduating from the University of Arizona. He also earned his law degree from South Bay University School of Law. Initially working as an engineer, Louis transitioned to a successful career as an attorney, practicing law until his retirement at the age of 73.
His interests extended beyond his professional life. Louis enjoyed engaging in various sports, practicing karate, and was an avid fan of college basketball. He had a passion for exploring new restaurants, but above all, he cherished the time spent with his family.
Louis was deeply involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, providing unwavering support for their careers and personal growth. He emphasized the importance of strong values and hard work, leaving a lasting legacy of encouragement and guidance.
He is survived by his three children: Robert Goldberg and wife Elaine, Michelle Goldberg Smith and husband Kevin, and Sheri Goldberg Frazin and husband Alvin. Louis also leaves behind a loving group of grandchildren, including Jennifer Sher and husband Rabbi Daniel, Steven Smith and wife Kelby, Amanda Goldberg and fiancé Zach, Andrew Goldberg and wife Emily, Rachel Frazin Sofaer, and Sarah Bowens and husband Brandon. His great-grandchildren, Levi, Sami, Lily, Rory, and Ari, also carry forward his legacy.
A memorial service was held on November 16, 2025, at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles, where family and friends gathered to celebrate Louis’s life and the values he imparted. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, reminding them of the importance of resilience, family, and community.
