David Anthony Gilles, a beloved husband, father, and community leader, passed away at the age of 66, surrounded by his family. His death occurred recently in Sandpoint, Idaho, where he had relocated with his wife, Nancy Erd, in 2023 to enjoy the home they built together.

Born on April 27, 1959, in Glendale, California, David was the son of William and Carol Gilles. He graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School before pursuing further education at community colleges in Torrance, California, and Pasco, Washington. In 1980, he married Nancy, and they settled in Richland, Washington, where they raised their four children.

David began his career at the Hanford Nuclear Site, initially working as a bus driver. His dedication and strong work ethic led him to advance through various management positions, culminating in his role as Manager of Retrieval Operations at the Tank Farms before his retirement.

Throughout his life, David was known as a tireless provider and caregiver for his loved ones. He balanced his professional responsibilities with a commitment to teaching and mentoring family and friends. His reserved demeanor often concealed a quick wit and a clever sense of humor, and those close to him appreciated his good-natured teasing as a sign of affection.

Tragically, David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and their four children: Darlene (Jose) Bejar, Wendy, David (Juliana), and Heather. His family also includes eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as his brother, William (Roni).

In honor of David’s memory, donations can be made to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation. A heartfelt online memorial has been established for friends and family to pay their respects and share memories. David’s legacy as a devoted family man and dedicated community member will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
