Volcano Art Center Launches 26th Annual Wreath Exhibition

The Volcano Art Center (VAC) has officially opened its 26th Annual Wreath Exhibition, showcasing a vibrant selection of locally crafted wreaths, ornaments, and seasonal decorations. This year’s exhibition, themed “Lei for the Season: A Celebration of Garlands and Lei-making Traditions,” highlights the rich cultural and symbolic significance of lei in Hawaii.

Visitors can explore a diverse array of artistic expressions that incorporate various media, techniques, and styles. The exhibition invites artists to draw inspiration from the deep-rooted traditions of lei making, encouraging them to honor this cherished practice through their creations.

Cultural Demonstrations Enhance the Experience

In addition to the exhibition, VAC is hosting a series of special cultural demonstrations throughout November. Every Friday from 11 a.m. to 13:00, cultural practitioners will offer hands-on demonstrations of lei, wreath, and ornament making on the front porch of the VAC Gallery, located in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. These community events are free and open to the public, allowing participants to engage directly with the cultural heritage of lei making.
