Three Experts Depart Married at First Sight Ahead of Season 20
Changes are underway for the reality series Married at First Sight as it gears up for its 20th season. Three key experts will not return for the upcoming season, which is set to premiere in 2026. The departures include well-known figures Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Cal Roberson, and Dr. Pia Holec.
The announcement was made by Peacock, the streaming service hosting the show, which also revealed plans to introduce three new experts to freshen the series. This transition marks a significant change for the franchise, which has built a dedicated following since its inception.
Kinetic Content’s founder and CEO Chris Coelen expressed enthusiasm for this new direction. In a statement to Variety, he said, “We’re thrilled to be embarking on a brand new chapter of the MAFS journey with our partners at Peacock. We’re excited for the future and honored to have worked alongside Dr. Pepper, Pastor Cal, and Dr. Pia.” He acknowledged the contributions of the departing experts, particularly noting Dr. Schwartz’s long-standing involvement since the show’s beginnings in 2014.
Dr. Pepper Schwartz reflected on her time with the franchise, stating, “As I step away, I do so with immense pride in what this franchise has accomplished and deep confidence in its future.” She conveyed her gratitude for the experiences and the personal connections made over the years.
Pastor Cal Roberson also shared his sentiments about leaving the show, expressing appreciation for the participants who allowed him to be part of their journeys. He remarked, “Your courage, honesty, and willingness to believe in the process reminded me time and again why this work matters.”
Dr. Pia Holec, who also departs to focus on family commitments, noted her enjoyment in working alongside her fellow experts. “I genuinely loved my time on Married at First Sight, and working alongside franchise OGs turned friends, like Dr. Pepper and Pastor Cal. I’m proud of the time we’ve spent with each person who so bravely took this step in finding love,” she remarked.
With these departures, Married at First Sight is poised for a transformation as it heads into its 20th season. Fans of the show can expect new dynamics and insights from the upcoming expert panel, making for an exciting new chapter in the series’ evolution.
