Producer Responds to Blake Lively’s Allegations Over Birth Video
Blake Lively’s recent legal claims regarding an alleged incident on the set of the film *It Ends With Us* have drawn attention, particularly concerning a video shown to her by producer Jamey Heath. In a deposition on October 8, 2023, Heath stated that Lively only saw “half a second” of the birthing video, which has become a focal point in her sexual harassment lawsuit filed on December 4, 2023.
Heath, who has collaborated with *It Ends With Us* director and co-star Justin Baldoni for 20 years, was questioned about the circumstances surrounding Lively’s claims. The film is based on the popular novel by Colleen Hoover. Heath testified that he shared a personal video of his wife giving birth, stating his intention was to depict a moment of beauty and intimacy.
Lively described the situation on set as chaotic and lacking in standard protections for filming sensitive scenes. According to her allegations, Heath approached her and her assistant while playing the video, which she perceived as inappropriate. She recalled feeling alarmed and believed the footage resembled pornography. In her lawsuit, Lively claimed she interrupted Heath, questioning whether his wife was aware of the video being shared, to which Heath allegedly replied, “She isn’t weird about this stuff,” implying Lively’s discomfort was unusual.
In his deposition, Heath provided context about the video, indicating it featured his wife, their newborn, and family members. He noted that the scene included moments of joy and prayer, contradicting Lively’s characterization of the footage. Heath mentioned, “I believe we were singing and praying. The baby was crying and then at some point we were whispering a prayer in the baby’s ear.”
When pressed about Lively’s experience, Heath clarified that the portion she viewed included only a brief glimpse of his wife with the baby, emphasizing that Lively’s assertion of being shown pornography was inaccurate. He stated, “Well, the first portion of the video — which, again, she had only seen maybe a half a second of it — is only my wife sitting here, the baby on top. And that’s what she would have seen.”
The legal battle has intensified, with Baldoni and Heath previously filing a countersuit against Lively, asserting that her claims were knowingly false. Their legal representation described the video as “beautiful” and lamented that Lively mischaracterized the moment. The countersuit argued that her depiction of the footage as inappropriate was “deplorable,” insisting that the video was shared with full consent.
As the lawsuit unfolds, both parties continue to navigate the complexities of their claims and defenses. Lively’s accusations and the subsequent response from Heath and Baldoni have ignited broader discussions about workplace conduct and the treatment of actors in sensitive filming situations.
This ongoing legal dispute highlights the evolving nature of Hollywood, where personal boundaries and professional ethics are increasingly scrutinized. As more details emerge, the implications for those involved in *It Ends With Us* may resonate beyond the film itself, affecting public perceptions and industry standards.
