Mickey Rourke Rejects GoFundMe Campaign Amid Eviction Claims
Mickey Rourke has publicly distanced himself from a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $100,000, amid reports of his financial troubles and an alleged risk of eviction. In a video posted on social media on January 6, 2026, the 73-year-old actor expressed his confusion and frustration about the fundraiser, emphasizing that he had no involvement in its creation.
Rourke stated emphatically, “That’s not me, OK?” He clarified that he does not seek public sympathy or financial assistance from fans or strangers. “If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f–king charity. I’d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger,” Rourke asserted, illustrating his discomfort with the notion of soliciting help. He underscored his pride, stating, “It’s not my style to ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel.”
The GoFundMe page claims that it was established with Rourke’s “full permission” by Liya-Joelle Jones, who identifies as the assistant to his manager, Kimberly Hines. Hines is listed as the beneficiary of the campaign. Rourke suggested that someone close to him may have initiated the fundraiser without his consent, expressing concern about the situation being “humiliating.”
Financial Struggles and Career Reflections
In addition to addressing the GoFundMe controversy, Rourke commented on reports that he owes nearly $60,000 in back rent. Reflecting on his past, he admitted to making poor decisions in managing his career, stating, “I wasn’t diplomatic.” He acknowledged the personal struggles he has faced, revealing that he has undergone over 20 years of therapy to address the damage done to him earlier in his life.
“I worked very hard to work through that. I’m not that person anymore,” Rourke shared. Despite denying any intention to seek public funding, he did mention borrowing money from a “great friend,” further illustrating his current financial state. Reports from the Daily Mail indicate that Rourke is living a “rich poor” lifestyle, often spending money quickly, leaving him in a precarious financial situation.
While Rourke’s situation continues to draw attention, he remains adamant about his desire to dissociate from any fundraising efforts. He urged anyone who has contributed to the GoFundMe campaign to “get [their] money back,” reinforcing his stance against soliciting charity.
The actor’s strong reactions highlight the complexities of his current circumstances, as well as a personal pride that shapes how he navigates his challenges. Despite the turmoil, Rourke conveyed a sense of determination to move forward, stating, “I’m sure I’ll get over it like anything else.”
