Maryland is set to enhance its entertainment landscape with plans for a new Sphere venue at National Harbor. This ambitious project is a collaboration between Sphere Entertainment Co., the State of Maryland, Prince George’s County, and Peterson Companies. The proposed venue aims to offer a unique experience through state-of-the-art technology, including a 16K x 16K interior display and Sphere Immersive Sound.

If the proposal successfully navigates regulatory processes, Maryland could experience significant economic benefits, with projections estimating an annual impact of approximately $1 billion. The development is also expected to create around 2,500 construction jobs and 4,750 operational roles, contributing substantially to the local job market. In a statement shared with FOX Baltimore, Governor Wes Moore emphasized the project’s importance, declaring it one of the largest economic development initiatives in the history of Prince George’s County.
