Dr. Diane Arnaout, a pediatrician based in Fort Worth, Texas, is set to release her first book, “Hiccups: A Pediatrician Mom’s Guide to Surviving Your First Year of Parenthood,” on April 2, 2026. After a decade of providing medical advice to parents online, Arnaout aims to offer a more permanent resource for caregivers navigating the challenges of parenthood.

Throughout her years of practice, Arnaout observed that many parents held misconceptions about childhood illnesses. With a passion for writing, she began sharing her insights and experiences on social media, quickly building a substantial following. Her engaging posts have attracted attention far beyond her local community, garnering hundreds of thousands of views from readers in locations as diverse as Tarrant County and Indonesia.

Arnaout’s writing style is both conversational and relatable, echoing her approach to social media. “I started just being very honest and writing about what I was doing with my own kids, the data I had read, the numbers I knew, and just shared that with the community to help them make their own decisions,” Arnaout explained.

The motivation behind her new book is twofold. Arnaout not only wanted to consolidate her advice into a more accessible format but also aimed to provide a unique perspective on the first year of parenthood. She describes the book as a succinct, 300-page guide that caregivers can consult whenever needed, rather than reading from cover to cover. “When I wrote the intro of the book, I said, ‘Don’t read this book cover to cover. Jump in and jump out whenever you need it,’” she noted.

Innovative Approach to Parenting Guidance

The structure of “Hiccups” sets it apart from traditional parenting books. Rather than lengthy paragraphs, Arnaout employs a question-and-answer format throughout the chapters. Topics include eye-catching titles like “Breastfeeding is a real bitch,” “The absolute brilliance of your kid’s immune system,” and “‘Sleep is for the weak.’ — most babies.” This format aims to create a sense of dialogue, mimicking a conversation with a trusted friend.

Arnaout’s goal is clear: to ease the anxieties of parents who may feel overwhelmed. “I hope it helps someone somewhere,” she said. “I always say my goal is to help some parent somewhere who is feeling really confused and frustrated, and they just whip the book out and get the answer they need and sleep better that night.”

The pediatrician, who has dedicated her career to serving the Fort Worth community, is not stopping with this initial release. Her publisher, Bloomsbury Academic, has already contracted her for a second book titled “Tumbles,” which will focus on children aged one to three. Arnaout also envisions writing additional books that will cover school-aged children and teenagers, ultimately providing comprehensive guidance throughout all stages of childhood.

Arnaout expresses her gratitude to her own children, Jack and Abby, dedicating “Hiccups” to them. In the book’s acknowledgments, she writes, “You’ve taught me more than any book ever could, and I love you. Thanks for understanding why I wrote about your butt rashes online.”

As she prepares for the book launch, Arnaout reflects on her journey and the impact she hopes to make on parents navigating the complexities of early childhood. Her commitment to demystifying pediatric care and empowering caregivers has established her as a trusted voice in the community. With the release of “Hiccups,” Dr. Diane Arnaout is poised to further her mission of supporting families through the often tumultuous early years of parenthood.
