Texas native Austin Meade is set to showcase his musical talents in a live performance at Scout Bar in Houston on December 18, 2023. His new album, Almost Famous, released on November 7, 2023, captures his unique blend of personal history and rock spirit.

Growing up in a small town, Meade was influenced early on by his father, a Baptist preacher who introduced him to the world of music through rock concerts. Iconic bands such as AC/DC, Journey, and Judas Priest played a pivotal role in shaping his passion for guitar-driven storytelling. These formative experiences laid the groundwork for the sound that defines his artistry today.

Meade’s family remains central to his life and music. Balancing the responsibilities of being a husband and father of two toddlers, he often finds himself in grease-streaked work clothes after working on home projects or assisting his father with their touring bus. “My parents live just ten minutes away, and while I help fix the tour bus, I have the freedom to create my music and spend time with my kids,” he explains.

Exploring Themes in “Almost Famous”

The album Almost Famous is a candid exploration of nostalgia, identity, and love, reflecting Meade’s journey both personally and musically. Recorded partially in a garage in Nashville and partly in his own bedroom studio in Texas, it offers a playful yet profound look at his life experiences.

Several tracks stand out for their emotional depth. “Honey Do Ya” is a heartfelt love song written for his wife, cleverly using the familiar phrase “honey-do list” to pose a timeless question: “Honey, do you want to do this forever?” This track bridges Meade’s earlier songwriting with his current style, showcasing his evolution as an artist.

The closing track, “Like Father Like Son,” poignantly traces the lineage from Meade’s grandfather to his newborn child, highlighting themes of family legacy and connection. The title track, “Almost Famous,” serves as a loud, loose anthem that humorously critiques the music industry while exposing deeper feelings of anxiety and purpose.

Connecting with Audiences Through Performance

Meade’s unfiltered approach resonates with listeners who navigate the complexities of real life. His voice embodies the soulful spirit of his upbringing, delivering rock ’n’ roll energy with the heart of a family man. Performing over 300 shows a year across the Southwest, Meade brings that energy to the stage, inviting fans to share in his musical journey.

On December 18, fans can experience his Acoustic Christmas tour alongside fellow musicians Mitchell Ferguson and Sterling Elza. With his trusty guitar in hand and a genuine connection to his audience, Austin Meade is carving out a distinctive space in the Southern alternative rock scene—almost famous, yet with much more to express and explore.
