Alanis Morissette, Ella Langley to Headline Spotify’s SXSW Showcase
Alanis Morissette and Ella Langley will perform at Spotify’s showcase during the upcoming South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, marking the streaming service’s 20th anniversary. The event will also feature a DJ set from acclaimed artist St. Vincent. This showcase promises to highlight a blend of influential voices from the past two decades alongside emerging talents shaping the future of music.
Morissette, the headlining act, is renowned for her iconic 1998 album, Jagged Little Pill, which is among the best-selling albums in history. In contrast, Langley is gaining momentum in her career, with her latest single, “Choosin’ Texas,” recently spending two weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. St. Vincent, celebrated for her innovative approach to music, has maintained a prominent position in the industry over the past decade.
Spotify’s showcase at SXSW is set to celebrate two decades of its influence in the music industry. Founded by Daniel Ek in April 2006 in Sweden, Spotify has evolved into a pivotal player in the music business, with streaming now accounting for over 80 percent of recorded music revenues in the U.S. To commemorate its anniversary, Spotify has launched an official playlist to accompany its SXSW programming.
Panel Discussions and Notable Performances
In addition to the performances, Spotify’s co-CEO Gustav Söderström will participate in a panel discussion alongside country music star Lainey Wilson and podcast host David Friedberg. They will discuss the evolving landscape of the music industry and Spotify’s role in it. Furthermore, Dustee Jenkins, the company’s chief public affairs officer, will engage in a career-spanning conversation with singer Nick Jonas, who is set to premiere his upcoming film, Power Ballad, at the festival.
The SXSW festival will also host a variety of other prominent musical acts, including Junior H, Don Toliver, Mau P, Fuerza Regida, BigXThaPlug, and Lola Young. This year’s lineup reflects the festival’s commitment to showcasing diverse talent and fostering connections within the music community.
As Spotify gears up for its anniversary celebration, the SXSW showcase exemplifies the company’s dedication to both honoring the past and embracing the future of music. With a blend of established stars and rising artists, the event will undoubtedly attract significant attention and continue to shape the music industry’s landscape for years to come.
