Tuesday Health and Buckeye Health Plan Launch Palliative Care for Ohioans
Tuesday Health and Buckeye Health Plan have announced a significant partnership aimed at enhancing palliative care services for Ohio residents facing serious illnesses. The program commenced on January 1, 2026, and is designed to offer both in-person and virtual care options to assist members and their caregivers in managing complex health challenges.
Through this collaboration, eligible Buckeye members will gain access to an interdisciplinary care team from Tuesday Health, which includes nurses, social workers, nurse practitioners, and physicians. This team will work closely with members’ existing healthcare providers to manage symptoms effectively, support medical decision-making, and provide essential caregiver assistance. Additionally, members will have 24/7 access to clinicians for urgent needs, ensuring timely support when it is most critical.
“Our goal is simple: to make sure people living with serious illness and their caregivers feel supported every day,” stated Jim Wieland, CEO of Tuesday Health. He emphasized that this partnership expands access to their care team, providing hands-on guidance and emotional support while helping members navigate the complexities of serious illness and avoid unnecessary hospital visits.
Ohio is currently experiencing a growing burden of serious illnesses, with a rising number of caregivers feeling overwhelmed. According to a recent report by the AARP, one in four adults in the state is responsible for caring for a family member or friend with complex medical needs. The value-based palliative care model introduced by these organizations seeks to alleviate the strain on caregivers and improve overall health outcomes by proactively managing symptoms and enhancing communication between providers.
“Buckeye Health Plan is committed to ensuring that our members with complex health needs receive coordinated, compassionate care,” said Justin Loudon, CEO of Buckeye Health Plan. He noted that Tuesday Health’s model aligns with their mission and ensures that members and their families receive the necessary support.
This partnership not only aims to improve care for individuals with serious illnesses but also seeks to advance broader healthcare transformation efforts in Ohio. It reflects Tuesday Health’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to palliative care across the nation, including plans for growth in several new states in 2026. This collaboration marks a crucial step in Tuesday Health’s expansion, as they now serve members through Medicare Advantage, Medicaid Managed Care programs, and dual-eligible plans.
By broadening their reach, Tuesday Health aims to deliver proven care models to more individuals in need of supportive and integrated care. The organization has consistently reported high engagement levels, with member satisfaction exceeding 90%, and notable reductions in avoidable hospital and emergency department visits across diverse patient populations. These statistics highlight the benefits of proactive, relationship-based care in familiar environments.
About Tuesday Health: Tuesday Health is a value-based palliative care provider group dedicated to transforming serious illness and end-of-life care. Their interdisciplinary care teams focus on alleviating both physical symptoms and emotional stress for individuals and their caregivers, aiming to reduce avoidable hospitalizations and enhance quality of life.
