Approximately 45 secondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers from northwest Minnesota gathered on December 8, 2025, for the annual Construction, Trades and Industry Workshop. The event was sponsored by the North Country Vocational Cooperative Center and the Pine to Prairie Vocational Cooperative to enhance educational practices in the construction and trades sector.

Participants engaged in a series of presentations designed to showcase advancements and learning opportunities within the industry. Notable contributions included a demonstration of robotic welding techniques by Central McGowan, which highlighted the growing importance of automation in modern trades.

In addition, ACME Tools introduced innovative tools that promise to improve efficiency and safety in construction tasks. The presentations also featured programs from Alexandria Technical College, focusing on welding and power sports, which are increasingly relevant in today’s job market.

The workshop also included insights from Skills USA, an organization dedicated to promoting vocational skills and providing students with the competencies needed to excel in their careers. This focus on skills development reflects a broader trend in education aimed at bridging the gap between industry needs and classroom instruction.

By bringing together educators and industry leaders, the workshop fostered valuable networking opportunities and discussions on how to adapt curricula to meet evolving industry standards. The engagement of local educators in such initiatives is crucial for preparing students for successful careers in the trades.

Overall, the 2025 Construction, Trades and Industry Workshop served as a platform for sharing knowledge and resources, empowering educators to enhance their teaching methodologies and better equip their students for future opportunities in the construction and trades fields.
